FILMMAKERS GET OUT THE VOTE! At
a time when women have more political influence than ever, millions of women still
aren't exercising their right to vote--nearly 22 MILLION single women did not
vote in the 2000 election. Women Make Movies filmmakers are seeking to reverse
the trend by encouraging women to get out to the polls this November!
One
Vote, a 6-minute film produced by Donald Goldmacher (Ruthie & Connie: Every
Room in the House) and co-directed by Deborah Hoffmann (Complaints of a Dutiful
Daughter) and Frances Reid (In the Best Interests of the Children) aims to spur
women into action by presenting the political attitudes, feelings, beliefs and
desires of women across the country.
WMM
filmmaker Charlotte Lagarde's (Heart of the Sea) Voting in America project is
a series of short films, each exploring a unique aspect of what keeps Americans
nationwide from voting in greater numbers. These ten short pieces offer compelling
insight on this important issue.
Film
still from Standing on My Sisters' Shoulders, the powerful story of women who
fought for voting rights for African Americans in the 1950s and 60s.

XXI
CENTURY - The Last Empire an independent documentary film featuring:
Chomsky, Zinn, Goodman and many others. A real independent documentary film by
Gabriele Zamparini & Lorenzo Meccoli There are years when nothing happens
and then days that change the course of History. From September 2002 to May 2003
we met with intellectuals, journalists, university professors, writers, historians,
political analysts, international observers, human rights organizations, civil
rights fighters, religious leaders, peace and anti war activists, asking questions
to understand these years in which we are living and try to put together the many
pieces of a complicated puzzle. The picture that comes alive is - to paraphrase
James Baldwin - "longer, larger, more various, more beautiful, and more terrible
than anything anyone has ever said about it". Click
