Non-Violence Works
"In 1989, thirteen nations comprising
1,695,000 people experienced non-violent revolutions that
succeeded beyond anyone's wildest expectations... If we add
all the countries touched by major non-violent actions in
our century (the Philippines, South Africa, the independence
movement in India...) the figure reaches 3,337,400,000, a
staggering 65% of humanity! All this in the teeth of the assertion,
endlessly repeated, that non-violence doesn't work in the
'real' world." - Walter Wink |

| May 16th - Give Your Stuff
Away - on Curb Day - Nation-wide give-away event (Curb Day)
is Saturday, May 16, 2009 - On Saturday, May 16, 2009, people
all over will participate in "Curb Day" by bringing
unwanted (but still valuable) items to their curbs for others
to cart away for free. All of us own extra "stuff"
- things that have value, but not to us. Overall, there are
millions of items out there - good stuff, just wasting away,
cluttering households. In today's economy, especially, many
others would love to own these items.

PEACE IN
IRAQ PEACE IN IRAN, PEACE IN AFGANISTAN, PEACE WE MUST MAKE BETWEEN
OURSELVES IF WE ARE TO HAVE A BETTER WORLD FOR OUR CHILDREN AND
OURSELVES!
|
|
|
| We can look at what lives
globally before us as a crumbling, which it is! We can be angry, as
we have a right to be angry - Angry at ourselves and at that which
we have allowed to unfold without resistance ........... We can rant,
we can rave, but at the end of the hour or the day, what has come
will have come, and WE must be able to pick OURSELVES up and envision
a solid ground to stand upon - TO BEGIN AGAIN working for the sustainable
world we want for ourselves, our children, our neighbors, friends
and all creatures we travel this planet with. |

Should
any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment
insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not
hear of that party again in our political history. There is a
tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things.
Among them are...Texas oil millionaires and an occasional politician
or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they
are stupid. - President Dwight D. Eisenhower, November 8, 1954
